![]() Sonic is a different franchise and honestly I'd rather see more nostalgic comeback in that franchise whereas Freedom Planet is a freshly created one and the only nostalgia from the first came in small bits and it was good. The mere reappearance of other Sonic characters who isn't the titular character himself isn't the problem that harms the series, it's mischaracterisation or flanderization of the characters that even Sonic sort of suffered. NOT themes in case you're going to make that counterargument again, it's locations! If there's anything that truly makes the series stale, it's constantly reusing stage locations. Oh sure, never mind the fact that Sega / Sonic Team is more nostalgia pandering with the stages especially the notorious Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone.Įven the upcoming Sonic Frontiers is guilty of reusing locations for the cyberspace stages while the characters you despise so much don't even seem to appear much if at all. This is why the Sonic series has gone stale: they kept shoehorning Shadow and other side characters that overstayed their welcome in the franchise when Sonic should be the more important guy there. They'll likely circle back to old characters eventually if this spawns into a franchise like they want to do. Still hope the game does really well and they can expand on the FP universe regardless. Heck they already said during the launch party's stream that it'll be a year before they'll really tackle porting this game to consoles just because they need a well-earned break. I'm only suggesting ideas I don't want to push ANYTHING on the staff of this game, bless them all for how hard they've worked on it already, I don't expect any kind of DLC for at least a year or two. Well to be honest the only reason I wanna see some love thrown Torque's way specifically is because he was going have a lot more to do with the game outside the beta and circumstances left the staff unable to include him in future updates, would just be a good chance to revisit the ideas they didn't get to use before now that DLC won't be a problem in the future. Here’s how to get the true ending in Freedom Planet 2. Freedom Planet 2, however, employs a more open-ended design in its story mode, and hidden within that story is the potential for a secret. Just play the stages from start to finish, and you win. Askal is mentioned to be older than the Royal Magister in dialogue between the two in Palace Courtyard.Well to be fair even if they're not relevant to the story of the sequel it's not like people wouldn't like to see Torque again in some kinda side-quest, so far it feels like something like that would fit just fine (not going into anymore detail to avoid spoilers.) I prefer seeing new faces than having them milk Brevon and Torque for nostalgia sake than pushing the series forwards. The original Freedom Planet was a strictly linear game. For the uninitiated, Freedom Planet drew heavy inspiration from Sonic the Hedgehog, while also adding a huge emphasis on combat and exploration. This is likely a reference to Askal's voice actor, Christopher Sabat, who has also voiced characters in said series, most notably Vegeta & Piccolo. Going on three years now, Freedom Planet launched on Steam after a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2012. According to Strife, Dragonball Z sound effects are used as placeholder sounds for the Askal fight in Gong's Training Hall (as demonstrated in the SAGE 2020 demonstration). ![]() ![]() ![]() The player controls one of three anthropomorphic animal protagonists: the dragon Lilac, the wildcat Carol, or the basset hound Milla. His name is directly lifted from Askals, also called "Aspins", which are Philippine mongrel dogs, suiting for Askal's heritage. Freedom Planet’s quick-moving platforming is back. With his deadly gun, a wide combination of projectiles and unique properties, and jetpack. Freedom Planet is a two-dimensional platform video game created by independent developer GalaxyTrail, a studio set up for the project by designer Stephen DiDuro. His signature move is called the "Hundred-Hook Punch", where he throws a flurry of quick and powerful punches at his enemies. He also sports a pair of brass knuckles, which appear to be his signature weapons. Askal, upon finding out of the Magister's true identity when unmasked Īskal is a well-trained fighter who possesses the Earth element. ![]()
